COVID-19 Vaccination Distribution Program

The supply of COVID-19 vaccine is limited.  The CDC is providing recommendations to federal, state, and local governments about who should be vaccinated first.

Here is the CDC’s 3-Phase Distribution Plan - from the CDC Website.

 1)     Phase 1a

a. Healthcare Personnel

b. Long-term Care Facility Residents

2)     Phase 1b

a. Frontline essential workers such as fire fighters, police officers, corrections officers, food and agricultural workers, United States Postal Service workers, manufacturing workers, grocery store workers, public transit workers, and those who work in the educational sector (teachers, support staff, and daycare workers.)

b. People aged 75 years and older because they are at high risk of hospitalization, illness, and death from COVID-19. People aged 75 years and older who are also residents of long-term care facilities should be offered vaccination in Phase 1a.

3)     Phase 1c

a. People aged 65—74 years because they are at high risk of hospitalization, illness, and death from COVID-19. People aged 65—74 years who are also residents of long-term care facilities should be offered vaccination in Phase 1a.

b. People aged 16—64 years with underlying medical conditions which increase the risk of serious, life-threatening complications from COVID-19.

c. Other essential workers, such as people who work in transportation and logistics, food service, housing construction and finance, information technology, communications, energy, law, media, public safety, and public health.

Here at the Chase County Community Hospital (CCCH), we are currently providing vaccinations in Phase 1a only and do not anticipate that we will manage future phases or receive additional allocations beyond what we have already received.  At least until the government distribution program has concluded and the vaccines become readily available.  Once CCCH has completed its Phase 1a process, the Southwest Nebraska Public Health Department will be contacted to see how CCCH can assist with any remaining 1a needs that they might have or to relinquish any unused vaccines to them for their process with Phase 1b.

Please Note: the Southwest Nebraska Public Health Department, (308) 345-4223 is also currently administering 1a vaccinations.  They have indicated that their current vaccination appointments have all been filled for their January 5th clinic. This clinic is not associated with CCCH in any way.  Going forward, SWNPHD will be offering additional Phase 1a vaccination appointment times.  At this time, they are also experiencing high call volumes so please be patient until additional information becomes available.

Final Note: SWNPHD will be allocating/administering the vaccines for Phases 1b & 1c, not the CCCH.  There is currently NOT a definitive date for when these Phases will be implemented.  Additional information will be disseminated as soon as received.  It is the intent of all the involved organizations to get everyone, who wishes to be vaccinated, taken care of as quickly and efficiently as possible.
