Chase County Hospital offers individual medical nutrition therapy counseling and group nutrition activities for adults and kids with a Registered Dietitian. Programs are designed to supplement each client's own life whether they are looking for weight management/weight loss, or nutritional management for the prevention/management of cardiovascular disease and diabetes. Insurance coverage benefits are available to clients who are being seen by a health care provider for the treatment of a specific medical condition.
Chase County Hospital's Registered Dietitian provides individual and group health and wellness activities that supplement each client's/patient's own life whether they are looking for weight loss or nutritional management for elevated cholesterol, high blood pressure, or diabetes self-management. Our Registered Dietitian may also work with clients who have special dietary considerations such as Celiac Disease, food allergies/intolerances, Gastric Intestinal issues and more.
Julie Levy, M.Ed., RD, LMNT, has been a Registered Dietitian and Licensed Medical Nutrition Therapist since 2013. She obtained her bachelors of Science degree in Dietetics from the University of Northern Colorado and completed her dietetic internship at the University Of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center. Julie also has her Masters of Education in Exercise Physiology from Wichita State University and was a division one college athlete on the Wichita State University Softball Program. Julie is also working on earning hours through diabetes education to sit for the Certified Diabetes Educator examination from the National Certification Board for Diabetes Educators. Julie's diverse experience includes diabetes, pediatric and adult weight management, chronic kidney disease, wellness, heart disease, food allergies, food intolerances, and general healthful nutrition therapy.
Julie is an active member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, the Nebraska Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, American Diabetes Association, and American Association of Diabetes Educators. She has recently been nominated to be President-Elect for Nebraska Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics West Central District for 2015.
Diabetes Self-Management Education
Chase County Hospital provides individual instruction for Diabetes Self-Management Education to guide patients through seven self-care behaviors from our Registered Dietitian who has been living with diabetes since childhood and from American Association of Diabetes Educators (AADE) as eating healthier with consistent carbohydrate consumption, being physically active, monitoring blood glucose measurements, taking medication (oral or insulin/injections) as prescribed, solving problems in unusual situations, reducing the risk of complications, and coping with stress and emotional issues. Insurance coverage benefits are available to clients who are being seen by a health care provider for the treatment of a specific medical condition.
